Innovation Saskatchewan & Energy
Our objectives for the energy sector align with the priorities outlined in Saskatchewan’s Growth Plan, which focuses on:
- Supporting research and development for the application of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods in the oil sector
- Advancing the development of zero-emission small modular reactor technology using Saskatchewan uranium and
- Positioning Saskatchewan as the best place in North America to test, commercialize and scale new oil and natural gas technologies

Saskatchewan Advantage Innovation Fund (SAIF)
Provides non-repayable grants of up to $450,000 for the development of novel technological solutions that address specific industry challenges and benefit Saskatchewan’s core sectors like energy.
Saskatchewan Technology Startup Incentive (STSI)
Canada’s most aggressive investment tax credit program that provides Saskatchewan investors with a 45 per cent tax credit when they support eligible Saskatchewan startups.
Innovation & Science Fund (ISF)
Matches federal innovation funding dollars for projects from Saskatchewan’s academic and research institutes to promote research capacity and excellence in the province.
Made in Saskatchewan Technology (MIST) Program
Offers non-repayable grants of up to $30,000 for tech startups to pilot solutions with public sector partners to enhance public services.
We provide funding to research organizations that are developing innovative energy technologies and securing Saskatchewan's energy future.
We support incubators and accelerators that foster the growth of emerging companies.

Cultivator
Provides tech founders with the support, resources, funding and space they need to scale their business. Cleantech companies supported by Cultivator programming include Wave9 and Prairie Robotics.
Co.Labs
Supports high-growth tech startups by offering free resources to help them scale from idea to product-market fit, including mentorship, community, and accelerator programs like Co.Launch. Cleantech companies supported by Co.Labs programming include BrewNature, Teal EV, Prairie Robotics, LiORA by EMS and more.
We own and operate the Innovation Saskatchewan Research and Technology (R+T) Parks in Saskatoon and Regina, which provide key infrastructure as part of a larger energy innovation hub.

Hub for energy sector innovation, providing the space and facilities needed by companies to test, develop and deploy clean technologies.

Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC) Energy Innovation Hub
PTRC in partnership with Innovation Saskatchewan launched the Energy Innovation Hub which enables industry, researchers and students to access the equipment and facilities needed to help meet the current and future demands for energy research and innovation.
Provincial Energy & Cleantech Supports
Saskatchewan Petroleum Innovation Incentive
Offers a 25 per cent royalty and tax credits for eligible energy and natural gas innovation projects. It supports both pilot and commercial-scaling efforts, allowing applicants to test and expand their projects.
Clean Energy Technologies Research Institute
A centralized energy development and carbon-based energy technological research centre and home to the Canadian Energy Transition hub. It includes hands-on training, analytical services and technical advising services.
