Overview
AGF offers non-dilutive funding to support R&D projects that advance and enhance Saskatchewan’s agriculture sector.
The AGF OP Applicants program encourages out-of-province and international companies to establish R&D operations in Saskatchewan, addressing key challenges and shaping the future of agriculture.
Any contributions provided by an Innovation Saskatchewan Research Partner will be counted towards the agency’s contribution. Funding received from an Innovation Saskatchewan Research Partner cannot exceed 30 per cent of the project’s budget when combined with the amount requested from AGF. Funding stacked from other provincial government sources will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Funding Eligibility
Here’s what you need to apply.
The proposal is submitted by an agtech company currently outside of Saskatchewan that does not have any significant operations in Saskatchewan.
- Priority is given to proposals with an academic partner from a Saskatchewan post-secondary or research institute.
The proponent is committed to establishing and maintaining significant business and/or R&D operations in Saskatchewan.
The proponent is in the process of developing and/or commercializing a novel agricultural technology and can demonstrate how the technological innovation will fill an existing gap in the agtech ecosystem in Saskatchewan.
Technological solutions must be novel, innovative and not be a minor or derivative improvement to what currently exists in market.
The proposal demonstrates a feasible path to commercialization and how the benefits of the project will be sustained over the long term.
Industry partners must provide 50+ per cent of the project’s budget and the funding request is for more than 50 per cent of the proposed budget.
- R&D activities must be carried out in Saskatchewan using Saskatchewan-based personnel. In limited circumstances, specialized activities that can only be conducted outside of Saskatchewan or expertise that is available only outside of Saskatchewan will be accepted. Any specialized activities or resources required that are outside of the province must be discussed with IS prior to the submission of a full proposal.
